Optional quick idea · About 10 minutes
Follow a trail of picture clues

Hide a toy in an easy-to-reach place and leave a few drawn clues. Take turns being the detective and the person who knows the answer.
What you’ll need.
- A toy to find
- Three pieces of paper
- A crayon
Let’s try it.
- Choose a hiding place the detective can safely reach. Agree which room the mystery stays in.
- Draw three simple clues: a colour, a nearby object or a shape. The drawings do not need to be perfect.
- Give the detective the first clue. Look together and say what it might mean.
- Offer the next clue whenever it helps. Finding it together is part of the game.
- When the toy is found, let the detective hide it and make a new clue for you.
The story that started it.
An enormous dinosaur. Some very tiny clues.
