The front is the back. The BOOM is still coming.

A little look inside.

Goose has a parade to lead, Bear has an excellent BOOM, and Raccoon has two little bells. When a delivery barrow blocks their route, turning everyone around makes the front and back rather confusing.

Read the pictures and words together, or let the cast tell the story while you turn the pages.

From the book

Shall we turn the page?

Goose leads Bear and Raccoon past the baker's window, carrying one drum and two bells.
Goose had a parade to lead. First came Goose. Then Bear with his drum. Last came Raccoon with two little bells. "Past the bakery and on to the fountain," said Goose. The baker leaned out of her window. "I'll wait here for the big ending!" "An excellent BOOM," promised Bear.
Bear raises a drumstick as Goose lifts a wing to count them in.
Goose lifted one wing. "One, two—" BOOM! "We usually wait for three," said Goose. "My BOOM was ready," said Bear. "THREE!" Off they went.

Good to know.

Can we read without narration?

Yes. Turn the pages and read the words together. Narration is optional and begins only when you press play.

What can we download?

Read, listen and keep the story. Find the PDF, EPUB and complete read-aloud under Downloads for grown-ups at the end of the reader.

How should we choose a story?

Try the pictures, the opening and the voices. Pointing, listening, joining a sound or talking about a picture are all ways to share it. Choose the pace and level of help that suit your child.

For parents: story notes & sources

Try a tiny parade

Put three toys in a line, with the drummer between the others. Turn each toy in its own place. Who leads now? Let the toys walk forwards along a route your child chooses.

Words to play with

First, last, between, behind and forwards describe where the friends are. Point or trace their route together, and follow your child's favorite jokes.
